20 Years of Photography Lessons in 60 Seconds
Photography is not magic, there are magic moments, but what you see with your eyes is what the camera sees. Unappealing locations and poorly executed products will look like what they are.
Speaking of magic, Photoshop is not a magic wand. Can amazing things be done in photoshop, no doubt - that’s as much art as it is science. Photoshop is not a magic wand.
When a photographer takes a photograph, from the moment of creation, that photographer owns the copyright. Unless there have been specific terms discussed the photographer can do whatever they choose with that image.
A photographer takes great pictures, not the camera. Great equipment reduces the amount of mistakes that can be made and increases capabilities, but it does not take a great image all by itself.
The best camera is the one that you have on you.
Photography is a team sport, don’t go at it alone.
Assume nothing.
Cameras cost money. Computers are expensive. Photography is not free. Price yourself appropriately. Get paid for your work.
Don’t buy the lie that AI is going to take your job. It will if you let it, or you can choose to be the creative who wins.
Winners win, losers lose. Don’t let negativity in, it will spoil your shoots, spoil your relationships, and poison your outlook.
If you come to a difficult problem, change your attitude.
We are called creatives, own that title.
Perfect results count, not perfect process. Break the rules, it might be beautiful.
Your job isn’t done till the job is done.
Remember this shoot might be the highlight of someone’s week, month or even year. Act accordingly.
